A tramway extends from the East Wall yard onto Alexander Road and has numerous sidings serving many disused industries. Today, only the zinc ore unloading terminal for Tara Mine trains is served daily, 071s usually providing the motive power. In recent times the disused Coastal Container siding at the end of the tramway has been used for new rolling stock deliveries, instead of the North Quay Extension which is now disconnected. These pictures show a usual Tara Mines arrival and shunt movement at the zinc ore unloading terminal, and the delivery of IE's new 22000 Class railcars which were shunted by 141 Class locos 177+173. |
