Railway Stations C » Castleknock

Castleknock station opened in 1990 as part of the first commuter upgrade on the Maynooth line. It is hard to believe that prior to 1990 there was no rail access between Ashtown and Clonsilla, which now of course has been heavily built up between these two in the last 15 years. Castleknock station platforms have been extended and upgraded as part of the latest upgrade, and the one time container(with window cut out) that issued tickets has been replaced by the standard modern ticket office on the Maynooth line, built around 2000. The original MGWR stone road overbridge at the east end of the station also remains.
