Clonhugh is location just
north of Mullingar on the Dublin--Sligo line. The station, which I
believe had staggered platforms, was provided here principally for the
landlord who's land was dissected with the building of the railway in
the 1850s. The stone station building appears to be different to that of
the usual MGWR type built on the line beyond Mullingar. The up platform,
complete with raised and lower ends also remains. The station is located
just off the short stretch of the old N4 road, adjacent to a stone road
overbridge, and is in fact within sight of the MGWR's proper station for
the area which is just north at Multyfarnham. |
