Railway Stations K » Kilcommon

Kilcommon Station, Co.Wicklow, located north of Rathdrum on the Dublin-Rosslare line, was a temporary terminus of the Dublin Wicklow & Wexford Railway, who opened their line south from Dublin in 1861. When the cutting and viaduct across the River Avondale was complete south of Kilcommon in 1863, the station closed, been replaced by Rathdrum's. Today, the station building still stands at Kilcommon, and is a typical DWWR type, complete with platform walled entrance adjacent to the building. The station most likely only had one platform, used for its two year existence.
