Killashandra was the terminus of a short branch line from Crossdoney on the MGWR's line from Inny Jnc to Cavan. The Killashandra branch, along with the Cavan line lost their passenger services in 1947. The Killashandra branch remained open for goods traffic until 1959, this mainly been oil serving a local industry. The Cavan line itself closed completely in 1960. Today, it appears that Killashandra Station has been totally demolished with new larger industries now occupying the station site. An adjacent stone goods/engine shed survives however, along with the stone abutments of the former rail overbridge. |
