Up Railway Stations C » Cherry Orchard

Cherry Orchard, west Dublin City, was one of the stations built on the Dublin to Cork line for the new commuter service to Kildare, then known as 'Arrow'. The station was one of the most basic to be built, having up & down platforms, metal waiting shelters and footbridge. An accommodation bridge, dating from the 1840s, was located at the north end of the station, but was recently demolished. Over the years the station was heavily vandalised and it was finally closed and demolished in October 2008 as part of the Kildare Route Project. The area is now served by a newer station further south called 'Park West & Cherry Orchard'.
