Trew & Moy, Co.Tyrone, was
located on the former Great Northern Railway's route from Portadown to
Derry, known as the 'Derry Road'. The route was built by the Portadown &
Dungannon Railway in 1858, and later operated by the Ulster Railway and
then the GNR. The station is located nearer to the village of Moy. It
had a large two storey station building, typical of the type built on
the line. The building remains as a private residence for a mushroom
grower, whose company occupies the former station's site. The goods shed
also remains, as does the wooden GNR waiting shelter and station masters
house. The station had up & down platforms, footbridge and wooden GNR
signal cabin, but these were all demolished after closure of the line in
1965 by the Ulster Transport Authority. |
